ABOUT
I’ve been immersed in technology since the early ’90s, cutting my teeth at small regional internet providers just as the web was coming alive. Even then, I was drawn to the dark edges of the internet—fascinated by threats, vulnerabilities, and the complex systems that power it all. That curiosity led me into systems administration, network design, and security architecture.

Since then, I’ve worked with global giants like AT&T and helped build startups from scratch—some acquired, others going public. In 2014, I co-founded GroupSense, where I now serve as CEO, leading a team focused on digital risk protection and cyber threat intelligence.

In addition to my day job, I speak regularly at cybersecurity and intelligence conferences, provide hands-on cyber advisory services, and consult with organizations that need an experienced, practical perspective on security. I’m also the author of Cyber Recon (Wiley Press), a behind-the-scenes look at cyber threat actor engagement, ransomware response, and operational security.

While I’m known for my technical depth, it’s my ability to connect—with clients, teams, and adversaries alike—that makes the real impact.
Outside of work, you’ll find me in the wild—mountain biking, camping, hiking, overlanding, or riding motorcycles. I am actively working on projects that include digital investigation support for municipal law enforcement, securing OT devices on the Colorado River, threat actor profiling, teaching targeted communities how to avoid cyber scams, and providing pro-bono services to cyber attack victims.
